FOUNDER

Shannon Eric Denton is a multi-faceted storyteller working in film, TV, games, comics, books, and new media. Taking on the roles of writer, director, executive producer, storyboard artist, illustrator, editor, toy designer, book packager, creative consultant, and publisher, he has worked for media giants including Disney, Warner Bros., Sony, and Lionsgate; networks such as NBC, Fox, Showtime, Cartoon Network, and Nickelodeon; producers such as Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Saban Entertainment; divisions such as DC Entertainment and Marvel Entertainment; game and toy companies such as Riot Games, Blizzard, and Hasbro; and for publishers including Marvel, DC, Image, Dark Horse, Boom!, IDW, Heavy Metal, Dynamite, and more.

Career highlights in animation include serving as a storyboard artist on the Oscar-nominated feature Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, as well as directing original commercial animations for the movie. He also worked as a storyboard artist on the Emmy-nominated animated series Ozzie & Drix.

Live-action shows such as Las Vegas, Ally McBeal and The United States of Tara have benefitted from his creative efforts. The new media show, Con Man, featuring Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion, was independently produced by virtue of one of the largest Kickstarter campaigns at that point in time. Shannon was a producer on Season 2 of Con Man (ordered by SYFY), where he worked with his mentor Stan Lee. He continued contributing to the Con Man universe, overseeing production of the comic and animation that brought Alan Tudyk, Nathan Fillion, and PJ Haarsma's "show-within-a-show", Spectrum, to audiences.

In comics, he’s drawn everything from Spawn to Star Wars to Deadpool to Superman. He also contributed to the Eisner- and Harvey-nominated Outlaw Territory from Image Comics, and his book Graveslinger was nominated for a 2010 Harvey Award.

In the games industry, Shannon has lent his expertise to titles such as God of War, Diablo, Overwatch, Valorant, League Of Legends, World of Warcraft, and Neo-Pets. He was also the first graphic novelist chosen by the National Parks system as an Artist-in-Residence.

From 1995-1999, Shannon contributed to the design and development of almost every animated action-adventure show produced by the Fox Kids Network, including the beloved X-Men: The Animated Series, Spider-Man, Captain America, The Avengers: United They Stand, and the Annie-nominated Silver Surfer series. In the 2000s, he worked on a wide range of projects including Teen Titans, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Danny Phantom, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Osmosis Jones, and more.

Prior to founding Monster Forge, Shannon cut his teeth as a creative entrepreneur as the co-founder of the pioneering digital comics platform Komikwerks, which brought independent comics directly to online readers and led to partnerships with Stan Lee and Sony PlayStation, as well as collaborations with luminaries such as Bernie Wrightson, Keith Giffen, Louise Simonson, Dwayne McDuffie, and more. Via Komikwerks, Shannon launched a celebrated line of illustrated action-adventure books for children under the Actionopolis imprint - a brand that will be resurrected here at Monster Forge.

Shannon has lectured at CalArts, ArtCenter College of Design, Otis College of Art and Design, LightBox Expo, The Art Institute, The Joe Kubert School, and Collins College. He has also served as a mentor for Women in Animation.
